An interview with Ilaria Crotti, a Polar Sciences and Climate change researcher at the EU's Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Italy. In the Arctic PASSION project, Ilaria is a member of the team working on the air pollution forecast service, which provides local air pollution forecasts for communities in the Arctic. Ilaria appreciates how her work in Arctic PASSION can be helpful to people. For instance, forecasting pollution is important for local communities during events with high pollution levels, such as during wildfires. Ilaria will be giving a demonstration of how to use the service at Arctic Frontiers 2024 in Tromsø, at a side event led by the Arctic Mayors' Forum and the Norwegian Polar Institute entitled "Why Environmental Observation Services Matter: A Conversation with Arctic communities about how environmental information can inform climate policy." The event is on Monday, January 29th at 15:30, in The Edge: Room Arbeidskontoret 1 & 2. For more information please see our full description of the event.
