Arctic PASSION develops Arctic services to meet the informational needs of Arctic society. Two of our services target the distribution of information about wildfires (INFRA) and air quality (AURORAE). Recently, three webinars were hosted to share information and engage with the public for those services.
The webinar on May 12th hosted both INFRA and AURORAE services and aimed to explain the services features and collect users’ feedback.
Highlights:
- Features of both services were explained
- Curtis Rattray, member of the Tāłtān Nation (British Columbia, Canada), spoke about his community and their experiences with air pollution and wildfires
- During the discussion, several points were raised about extension of the tools, smoke tracking and other possibilities of features
- Feedback was collected with online live questions
Speakers:
- Ilaria Crotti: AURORAE developer, researcher at the European Commission Joint Research Center (JRC)
- Vito Vitale: INFRA developer, researcher at the Italian National Research Council (CNR)
- Curtis Rattray: member of the Tāłtān Nation (British Columbia, Canada), expert who provides capacity building and leadership development services, and works with Tāłtān youth
This online seminar & dialogue is organised by the Arctic PASSION partners JRC and CNR.
Here you can find the recordings of the previous webinars to obtain more information about the services individually:
INFRA: A web mapping service for wildfires, providing easy access to relevant information and products for Northern Europe, Canada and Yakutia
AURORAE: A web interface that monitors air quality and provides a two-day forecast of particulate matter concentrations for Northern Europe. Watch the webinar about this service below, and you can also read more in The Joint Research Centre:'s publication on AURORAE.
