Last week, Arctic PASSION took part in the EU Arctic Forum, Indigenous Peoples’ Dialogue and Arctic Youth Dialogue held in Kittilä, Finland. The forum brought together Indigenous Peoples' communities and local communities, youth representatives, researchers, stakeholders from across the Arctic and Europe.

On the side event day leading up to the main forum, coordinator Michael Karcher presented the Arctic PASSION project, sharing our mission, progress, and vision for a more integrated Arctic observing system. It was also an excellent opportunity to learn about several other EU-funded initiatives and gain valuable insights into the EU’s funding programme. Throughout the week, we enjoyed engaging with stakeholders and participants at the EU Polar Cluster Booth, where Arctic PASSION was featured alongside other key EU-supported projects.

One of the highlights of the week was the Arctic Youth Dialogue on day three organised by the Youth Together for Arctic Futures EU project who presented their policy recommendations for the EU. It was refreshing to hear their visions and hopes for a better and more sustainable Arctic! You can find all the recommendations on WWF's website.

We also took part in the Indigenous Peoples’ Dialogue, where we listened to and learned from Indigenous representatives sharing their experiences, knowledge, and priorities. These conversations are essential to ensure that co-production and inclusivity remain at the heart of Arctic science and policy development.

Thanks for having us!
