This is an Ambassador project of the Sharing Circle participant Fabian Seemann from the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, Germany
After the truly inspiring Sharing Circle workshop I initiated my outreach project with three different ideas. First, in November 2023 I presented the Sharing Circle and its outcomes to the institute I am working at, the Permafrost Research Section at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Potsdam, Germany. Secondly, it was my goal to reach the international permafrost research community. Therefore, Louise Mercer and I presented a poster on the key learnings from the Sharing Circle at the 12th International Conference on Permafrost (ICOP) 2024 in Whitehorse (Canada) during a poster session. Explaining and presenting the need for community engaged research projects, received great interest both at the institute and at the conference. Read more about it here. However, I am also aiming to reach audiences beyond the research community. Thus, as my third project, I am engaged in an APECS project group for the United Nations Climate Change Conference. APECS will be represented with a delegation at the Cryosphere Pavilion at the conference in Baku (Azerbaijan) in November 2024. The project group is currently preparing for this unique chance to reach out to policymakers.
