We would like to proudly congratulate Dr. Heidi Sevestre on receiving the inaugural Shackleton Medal for the Protection of the Polar Regions, which carries with it a prize of £10,000. The Shackleton Medal recognises and celebrates those individuals who best use their time, resources, courage and ingenuity to raise awareness of, and address our polar crisis. As well as receiving a physical medal in recognition of her impact, she has also received a £10,000 as a contribution towards her ongoing work in the polar regions.

Dr. Sevestre participates in Arctic PASSION on behalf of the Arctic Council's Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP) Working Group, and we are honored to have her working on our project. Watch the announcement of the award winner and Dr. Sevestre's reaction here, as well as her full interview.
